What are the Vault Trials?

Last year, eBay launched one of the biggest innovations for their service. The eBay Vault. A place where your high-value collectibles can be safely stored. In order to drive awareness, we were set to create a way for players to experience the Vault first-hand.

That led to the Trials. With a series of VR Mini Games we created an opportunity for the most hardcore members of the Hobby to showcase their skills while actually getting to be within the Vault.

You’re Invited…

We wanted to rile up fans of collecting. By reaching out in their true language. Cards.

We created special Vault Trials booster packs and sent them to key influencers within the community in order to specially invite them to check out the Trials.

For those at home, who want to brush up on some of their knowledge. We also created an AR Instagram Filter, in which we tapped into another classic collector culture point. Tier Lists. Each player receives three random cards they have to rank from A Tier to B Tier. This is the first chance for collectors to get a taste of the Trials. Test it out for yourself!

Step into the Vault Trials

Game 1: Pin the Price

In this game, players have to use their market analysis skills and knowledge to be able to determine the current value of a card from the Vault.

Game 2: Snap-Back

In Snap-Back, players are tasked with memorizing a card, and piecing it back together. The beauty is truly in the details.

Game 3: Prized Possessions

In Prized Possessions, players have to build the highest-value collection by selecting their top five picks from a conveyor belt of cards directly from the Vault.
